Excellent food, service, and atmosphere.
Serving classic yet fusion Cantonese cuisine infused with top-notch Chinese culinary arts for an authentic dining experience.
To the staff at Ru,
I am writing this as a letter of appreciation for the phenomenal staff and service that Ru holds that allowed my 80 year old mother, my friends and I to have multiple wonderful, memorable nights together. Thanks to the dedication and care of your highly capable staff, your restaurant holds a place in my heart and mind, and will continue to do so for a long time.
On my first visit to Ru, I had brought my mother there as a celebration of her 80th birthday. We were attended by a bright, young man named Yan, who served us kindly and patiently, and helped us with some wine recommendations with the air and experience of a sommelier. He helped us feel at ease and even arranged for the food to arrive in the best possible order for us to enjoy the full extent of the wine we had chosen. Yan also recommended a signature dish be paired with the wine, and we were well and truly impressed by his knowledge and recommendations! When our meal was almost over, Yan whispered in my ear that he had overheard that it was my mother's 80th birthday and had arranged for a complimentary almond soup dessert for her. This kind and thoughtful gesture really brought out the attentive nature of Yan's service, and I cannot thank him enough for a wonderful night.
His excellent service caused me to return to Ru several nights later, as I was checking in and out of the hotel for some other travel plans. When I returned a week later on a Saturday night, Yan was incredibly busy due to the dinner rush. We were instead served by Nick and a restaurant managing Calvin, who, despite the busy dinner rush, attended to us incredibly thoughtfully. As it turned out, Calvin was a tea connoisseur, and similar to Yan on our first night, made a highly welcome recommendation of a delicious tea that truly elevated our experience of our evening - again, the staff at Ru would pull through and serve a delightful evening.
For a restaurant in the heart of Tsuen Wan - of all places - I did not expect to find one of the classiest and most enjoyable dining experiences in Hong Kong. Ru is a restaurant full of hidden gems, and I could not simply return home without expressing my highest compliments. Thank you, staff of Ru, for a wonderful addition to my trip home in Hong Kong!
Service was average, understaffed, meal service was chaotic, no one served tea
-Lao Huotang, a little over a street tea restaurant, 78 people per person
- Barbecued pork is tender and full of flavor. Highly recommended
-Gulu shrimp balls, the ingredients are OK
-Abalone and chicken stew, normal quality
-Garlic choy sum, 172, ok
- Fried rice with scallops, too much onion and ginger, hard to eat
-Sugar water normal quality

Very nice and chic Chinese fine dining restaurant. Food is great with finesse and flavor.
a hidden gem in a far away neighborhood at tsuen wan (30 mins drive is a long way in hong kong). traditional Chinese cuisine made with a modern twist and lighter taste, although the real traditional dishes are bit off par. service is attentive and adequate. place is new (and still smells of thinner) but the decor is cliché and bland. would come again just for the dishes.
Nice place for business lunch.
In the evening, I wanted to find high-end Cantonese food in the area and get together with old friends, but the people at the two tables around me were so unfriendly and noisy that it disturbed others. We could only listen carefully to each other after they left at 9 o'clock.
The receptionist also spoke to me loudly, but politely
The only thing I like about it is the quality of the food. The sliced duck is top-notch. If this expensive food is not done well, there is no need to come back.
Excellent food, service, and atmosphere.
